The name Devi is of Sanskrit origin and it means “mother spirit” or “Godlike, a goddess”. (The letter e is stressed, such that the name rhymes with the name “Davy” as in Davy Crockett.) There are very many goddesses who are revered, including: Saraswathi Devi, who is hailed as the Goddess of learning and lords over the universe of letters and speech and Lakshmi Devi, who is the Goddess of Prosperity and wealth – not just material wealth, but of nobility and intellect. Our company name was intended specifically to be associated with Lakshmi Devi, but we also wanted the name to denote a spirited force which embraces everything positive and progressive these Goddesses represent. So while the name has a specific underlying thought, it also symbolizes our commitment to development and progression in new media.
